  • En Pointe Dance Academy Expectations

    En Pointe Dance Academy Expectations.

Below are the details of standards required of students enrolled in the Petite Pointe Club and En Pointe Dance Academy.

    Child Safety

En Pointe Dance Academy is a child safe organisation. We have attended seminars on keeping children safe in the dance industry.
All teachers and volunteers have provided a Working With Children Check number and have been approved to teach by the NSW Commission of Children and Young People

Parents are responsible for ensuring their child is escorted into our studio. Car Parks can be dangerous and we encourage all parents to walk their child to the door. Please notify staff if your child will be collected by someone other than yourself.
Upon pick up, no child will be allowed to go downstairs without a parent. Please do not wait in the car, please come in to collect your child.

    Grooming

All hair should be tied up in a bun for all lessons, especially ballet

    Drop off and pick Up

Parents are responsible for ensuring their child is escorted into our studio. Car Parks can be dangerous and we encourage all parents to walk their child to the door. Please notify staff if your child will be collected by someone other than yourself.
Upon pick up, no child will be allowed to go downstairs without a parent. Please do not wait in the car, please come in to collect your child.

    Attendance and Punctuality

We want your child to feel confident! It is important that students attend their lessons regularly. To properly prepare for examinations and performances such as the concert, it is essential that lessons not be missed. Missed lessons can only be made up if the is spots available in the same level. IF there are no classes available missed lessons must be forfeited.

Safe dance practices and to reduce the risk of injury dancers need to be warm and ready to dance prior to beginning their lessons. With this in mind please ensure students arrive 10 mins prior to class to stretch and warm up.

    Class wear and Foot wear

We want your child to feel apart of the family! Students are required to wear the correct uniform and footwear to all classes. Pride should be taken in wearing the uniform correctly. In winter, students can wear leg warmers and crossovers to keep warm in class. For personal safety and warmth in winter it is encouraged that students wear appropriate street wear to cover their dance wear when arriving and leaving the studio. We have a studio hoodie and dance pants for this reason.

    Student Behaviour

Students are expected to give their best at all times. They should show respect for their peers, teachers and parents. We do not tolerate bullying of any kind. En Pointe Dance Academy is a safe and non-discriminatory place for all students, parents and teachers.

    Jewellery and Valuables

Students should only wear sleepers or studs as earrings – dangly earrings risk getting caught and pulled out
All bracelets and necklaces should be left at home – unless it is for allergy or religious reasons. Students do not need to wear watches to dancing. We request that no student brings any valuables such as iPods, iPads, iPhones or such. We take no responsibility for property that is lost or stolen

    Allergies

We have a strict NO NUT POLICY. Students are not permitted to bring in any food products with nuts or traces of nuts as we have students who may be allergic to them. Students with anaphylactic reactions to nuts do attend this studio. These students should ensure they have an epipen handy and ensure the teachers know where this is stored.

    Communication and Social Media

Electronic communication is essential for sharing studio news and information with our families. We share information mostly via email and Facebook. Please ensure that you put admin@enpointedance.com.au in your safe list and join us at www.facebook.com/enpointedance We are also Proud to introduce Movitae to our studio. This App is amazing!

    Parents Watching

Parents are not allowed to view the class from inside the studio. There is simply not enough room for both parents and children to move. The children find the chatter and siblings very distracting.

Parents of Petite Pointe Club are encouraged to wait and watch in the waiting area during their class time. This is in case we need you to take your child to the toilet or she/ he becomes upset whilst at dancing,

We have watching week end of term 2 so that you can see the progress your little dancer is making.

    Food and Drink

Students are encouraged to drink water during lessons. Please ensure they have a spill proof drink bottle available for them and place this in our drink station. Unless your child is at dancing for more than 2 hours there is no need to provide snacks. NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE STUDIOS

    Illness and Injury

All exercise is a potential risk of injury. We teach safe dance practices to avoid injuries occurring at En Pointe Dance Academy. Should an injury occur an injury form is to be completed with the appropriate first aid applied and parent called if necessary. Should your child be unwell and is unable to attend please notify admin via email admin@enpointedance.com.au
